Badges (バッジ, Bajji?) are a recurring gameplay element in the Guilty Gear series. There are two types: in-game collectable badges, which appear in the Guilty Gear Xrd games, and the experience badges from the Steam distribution service.

Overview[]

In-game badges were introduced in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- and expanded upon in Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-. These are items which the players obtain from doing specific actions in a match. Badges are broken up into four tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Red. From Bronze to Red, the difficulty and time-consuming nature of the badges in that tier increase.[1]

Regarding "experience badges", all games available on Steam (with the exception of the original Guilty Gear and currently Guilty Gear -Strive-) have a set of collectable badges. Steam badges are crafted from trading cards, which drop as one plays any game. A game will only drop half of its full set; the player needs to trade for or buy the rest on the Steam marketplace. Each crafted badge nets 100XP, and can be leveled up four times for a total of 500XP. "Foil" badges are separate from regular badges, and only have one level; crafting a foil badge provides 100XP.
